Weingut Paulinshof

The name Paulinshof derives from the St Paul’s church in Trier which owned vast areas of vineyards in the Mosel as far back as 936. Since 1969 Weingut Paulinshof has been managed by Klaus and Christa Jungling who make a fresh, perfectly balanced wine from the top class Riesling grape.

Starting with 2 hectares the Junglings have expanded the vineyard area to almost 8 hectares, with the most recent parcel purchased in the famous Brauneberg area. The favourable southerly aspect of the Brauneberger vineyards and the iron and slate soils help produce wines with great elegance and finesse.

Brauneberger Kammer, also belongs to Weingut Paulinshof, and is one of the Mosel’s smallest single sites and produces some remarkable wines due to the excellent exposure to the sun and the high mineral content of the soils. On hot days the soil shines like bronze and so the wines from this vineyard are labelled with a similar coloured label.

Paulinshof Kabinett Medium Dry, £4.99, Tesco for a taste of the Mosel.
